Most People who claim that they do not believe in Jyotish or astrology is because:

Many predications fail
Many fradulent, cheats and charlatans, are disguised as astrologers
Many people think that Astrology (Jyotish) is only about predictions, foretelling one’s fate…

Lets understand this through an example: In serious ailments, one tries to consult the best physician or specialists in that disease, his / her chances of recovery may improve because specialist is consulted, but its not certain that 100% recovery will happen. The same applies to astrologers, a knowledgeable astrologer’s predictions and solutions may come true fully or sometimes 60-70 %, this depends on variety of factors similar to medical condition and doctor example. what is true about both is they are established sciences

Yes, Astrology (Bhartiya Jyotish) does foretell future, warn about possible mis- happenings, misfortunes in future, it can also advice remedies to prevent oneself from these mishaps, but this is only a small part of astrological sciences. Since most people are curious to know about their future, fate and fortune and when predictions fail, they start disbelieving in Astrology.

We see so many differences around us, rich and poor people, some educated some illiterates, siblings from same parents one is a criminal another is a highly educated well employed… Bhartiya jyotish, can tell exact reasons and explain why these differences occur, this is done through careful analysis of an individuals birth chart that we know as horoscope, the birth-time planetary positions.

Based on an individuals horoscope, an expert and experienced Astrologer can predict with good accuracy – major future events, inclination towards diseases, his financials status, his probability of success in different type of professions, and he can also predict his fate which is called “Prarabdh” in Hindi. If some bad events and unfortunate happenings are foreseen remedies can be suggested, and all these predictions are very scientifically done by analyzing huge and extremely complex permutations and combinations of planetary positions and movements in horoscope.

In hindu dharma for every big and important event (marriage, naming new born baby, house construction start, house warming) date and time is chosen based on astrology its called “Muhurta”

In our daily life for all practical purposes we need have the knowledge of, day, week, year, dates of festivals, seasons, month, auspicious times etc, this all knowledge that the whole world enjoys today, comes from Bhartiya Jyotish. even the historical events cannot be remembered or noted in books without Jyotish.

The entire worlds activities and business are being run due to the detailed knowledge of astronomy under astrology in the Vedas.

This means that the knowledge about days, weeks, months, years, seasons and the entire calendar in all the countries of the world are the gift of Vedic culture.

The word Calendar also comes from the Sanskrit word “Kaalantar”,

which means the difference between one time period and another (one second to another second, one minute to another minute, one hour to another hour, one day to the next day, one month to the next month, etc.)

The Arabs learnt the astronomical knowledge of the Vedas from the Indians (Bhartiya) and through them this knowledge reached the European countries, but the spoken languages of these countries did not have the ability to pronounce Sanskrit clearly.

Some words were not even present in their alphabets and hence over time they got the name calendar (from sanskrit Kalaantar).

The calendar that we use today has undergone many changes and modifications but its original source is Vedic astronomy / astrology knowledge.

Bhartiya Sanatan sages had the complete accurate knowledge of astronomy. They composed the calendar or almanac by incorporating the interdependence of the speed of the moon’s revolution around the earth, the speed of the earth’s revolution around the sun, other planets of the solar system, and also the interrelationships of the zodiac constellations etc.

It was very difficult for foreign civilizations to understand this vast knowledge, that is why the calendars of different countries are incomplete. Some made their own calendars based on the Sun, some on the Moon, and some on the constellations.

Agricultural science is also deeply related to astrology

Indian farmers, who did not receive their education in English schools as per the current tradition, are also familiar with practical astrological knowledge pertaining to their farming.

The Indian farmer knows on which date and constellation there is good rainfall, which seeds should be sown in which season, which trees, plants, vegetables etc. give good fruits in what kind of climate and soil.

Astrology has integral relationship with Ayurveda

A good astrologer can tell if an individual has proneness to particular disease/s, and based on his horoscope he can suggest very effective preventive and curative remedies, In which, besides gems, worship and rituals etc., Ayurvedic medicines are also advised.

If medicinal herbs etc. are selected on proper time, season and method as prescribed in astrological sciences, then their medicinal properties are far higher.

Astrology is useful in many other areas, for example:

Navigation for knowing direction in the sea or desert

The geometry used for measuring the height of mountains and depth of rivers and seas etc. comes under the science of astrology.

For House-building / construction – Vastu Shastra is a very detailed science which is a gift of astrology, ( Vastu is also taught in architecture courses).
