What is the Yajurveda?

Unlike the poetic verses of Rigveda, the Yajurveda is a prose-rich guidebook instructing priests on how to perform rituals correctly, chant mantras accurately, and offer oblations with divine alignment.
The Yajurveda is divided into two main branches:
- Shukla Yajurveda (White Yajurveda) – Clear separation of mantras and explanations.
- Krishna Yajurveda (Black Yajurveda) – Mixed arrangement of verses and commentary.
Purpose and Themes of the Yajurveda
The core focus of the Yajurveda is Karma (right action). It teaches that:
