The Extraordinary Magnificence of Lord Ganesha !!!
Shri Ganesh – Destroyer of all obstacles, who fulfills all wishes, eternally blissful, propitiously auspicious.
Lord Shri Ganesha is not an ordinary god. He is the eternal leader of innumerable cosmoses that exist (Jaganniyanta Paratpar Brahm). Along with being Par-brahma in the form of Omkar, he is the presiding deity of wisdom and intelligence.
Shri Ganesh is also worshipped by all 33 type of gods and goddesses (Responsible for managing and controlling all the chores of nature to sustain the life on our planet) . Shri Ganesh is the first to be worshipped among the five supreme GODs (Panch-Devs) (Ganesh Ji , Vishnu Ji, Durga Ji, Shankar Ji and Surya Dev).
There are five presiding deities for the five important functions of creation. Their worship is prescribed in the Sanatan Dharma scriptures.
1) For creation of life on earth – Sun God (Hiranyagarbha Brahma),
1) Sustaining life in the universe / earth- Lord Vishnu
2) Destruction of the universe – Lord Shiva
3) Control of the universe – Goddess Durga
4) Obstacles removal – A most important – Lord Ganesha
For the smooth functioning of the life on earth, the department of “obstacles” is with Shri Ganesh Ji. Lord Ganapati completes the tasks of his devotees without any obstacles in good deeds, pious deeds etc. Removing obstacles in the work of devotees, and doing good for them in every way is the grace of Lord Ganesha.
On the other hand, in the sinful deeds, deeds of non-devotees that cause pain to others, demonic deeds, etc. Lord Ganesha creates many obstacles and foils their evil intentions.
…that’s why Shri Ganesh is called Destroyer of all obstacles, who fulfills all wishes, eternally blissful, propitiously auspicious.
Among 5 supreme Gods – Lord Ganesha is worshipped first…An attempt to unveil / understand this mystery !
When we start any work, whether big or small, we think that “this should be successful”. In other words, before doing any work, we think that “this should not fail”.
The reason for saying the same thing in two ways is – in both these things “at the time of starting” or “at the time of commencement of work” is important, that is, before doing any work, especially a big one, we want to ensure at the very beginning that we will be successful in this work. We do not start any work without thinking that if any obstacle or problem arises then we will see.
Whatever is the reason for any work or task that fails or is unsuccessful it is called (that reason is called) – hindrance or Obstacle . So Obstacles make any task fail hence they are very important!
And for this reason, we ensure that there are no obstacles at the beginning of the work or task. Ganesh ji has the responsibility of removing obstacles. Hence, Before starting any work, Lord Ganesha is worshipped first.
From these statements we understood that
- for any work to be successful it is most important that no obstacles should arise and
- Ganapati is the destroyer of obstacles, therefore, to ensure success of work, Ganesha is worshipped first at the time of starting a work.
For our World and our Work to run smoothly, Removing Obstacles is most important
This proved two things:
- Removing obstacles is of utmost importance. It is necessary to ensure that obstacles are removed first in any work… That is why since Lord Ganesha is the destroyer of obstacles; therefore, he is the first to be worshipped. If we say this in another way- Before starting any work, it is necessary to worship Lord Ganesha first so that the work is completed successfully without any obstacles.
- The deity who has the responsibility of removing obstacles will be worshipped first. We all do some work or the other all the time and always wish for success. Not only the works of humans, all the works of the Tridevas (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and also Devi Durga) and other deities also become successful only by worshipping Lord Ganesha first.
To understand this principle, think a little more. We will know more about it in part 2.
- Lord Ganesha is worshipped first because he is the remover of obstacles
- Lord Ganesha is worshipped first because he is the presiding deity of wisdom,
